Gary and I drive the Irish Loop every year. This year we went on Good Friday April 18. It was a beautiful sunny day and it took us about 7 hours! We started our trip by going through CBS, Holyrood and then headed for Salomnier Line.
The bay was very calm when we passed through Mount Carmel.
We did make a little detour at Mount Carmel thinking about going to Placentia but road we took was to rocky! (apparently this road will be paved in the summer)
We got as far as Cataracts Provincial Park
Some more highlights of our trip
It was a cool day and snow still on the ground so we ate lunch in the car. After lunch we turned back and went back to the Loop.
It was a long car ride but very enjoyable. Gary was tired by the time we got home. (He drove so I got to have few cat naps on the way)
When we do this drive I am always amazed how the terrain changes so dramatically. You go from driving up and down hills with trees everywhere and you cannot see very far, then in a blink of an eye you are in the barrens and can see for kilometres. I love this drive it reminds why I love being a Newfoundlander!
If you are ever get a chance give this road trip a go it is worth it!
